The Easter Egg Hunt Returns to Monterey Park

Hundreds of children raced to collect 61,000 colorful Easter Eggs at Barnes Park on April 14th.

60,000 eggs were filled with candy and 1,000 special eggs were filled with gift cards and other special prizes.

Children checked their eggs for candy which they share with family members.

Monterey Park Councilmember Peter Chan and Assemblymember Mike Fong joined the party. They had already visited the Easter Bunny.

The Easter Bunny posed for pictures with many of his friends during this celebration.

DJ John Quan played several songs to the delight of the residents.

Several inflated Easter Bunnies decorated the tennis courts as young children played with them.

Game booths and Art booths were set up for children of all ages to enjoy. Many were sponsored by the city employees, The Boys and Girls Club and the Garvey School District.

The lines were so long that people waited patiently for their turn.

The party also featured bubble machines and several food trucks were available to serve delicious foods and drinks to the residents at a fair price.

Robert Aguirre, Director of Recreation and Community Services got into the Easter spirit.

He thanked the generous sponsors: TransTech and Shirley Hwong. He also thanked the student volunteers from Mark Keppel High School and Junior Members of the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library.

Children of all ages loved checking out our Police cars and watching our Police Drone fly over the park.

Monterey Park Mayor Henry Lo and Monterey Park City Council Candidate for the First District Jason Dhing were spotted among the thousands of residents enjoying the Easter Egg Hunt on a beautiful spring evening.
