Thanks for a great job of pictures and thorough coverage of the event honoring Terry. I tried to print it out, but it always cuts part off. Either i am doing something wrong or that tis the intention. Tilda

We're thrilled to hear about club members like Tim Thompson doing public outreach. All our clubs work tirelessly to share their love of the sky, so thank you, Citizen's Voice, for supporting stargazing efforts by featuring their good work. And thanks to Joe Addison for donating the telescope. The Los Angeles Astronomical Society is a very active NASA Night Sky Network club - go stargaze with them! Wishing everyone clear skies!

The town of Bastonge in Belgium also remembers American troops' sacrifices very fondly (made famous by the TV series Band of Brothers). In fact you can find many places in Europe (generally smaller towns rather than big cities) where the people of the town/village remember fondly the sacrificies of foreign soldiers for their freedom.

I can't remember if the name of the town was Ypres or that was the name of the area, but the townsfolk there still fondly recall the efforts of NZ soldiers in WW1!

Also, Pilsen was also the birthplace of pilsner beer. Pilsner Urquell is the original pilsner beer, and gets its name from the town from which it comes. If you need another reason to visit that seems like a good one.

I found it interesting about Betty's comment about being a clone on the Council. With Frank on the Council she seemed to be. Maybe now that she doesn't have Frank to bounce off of she'll sing a different song.....so long as it isn't a long song. She has been known to go on and on and on.

Gee, Nancy, What will you do now that you don't have Frank Venti on the Council. Maybe now the Council can truly work for the good of the city.

Dear Editor,

I am a real softy for stories about our American heros who have served our country. And this story of Frank Buckles touched me.

With Memorial Day coming up at the end of this month. I truly hope this remarkable man is honored at the City Hall ceremony presented by the American Legion. Frank Buckles' story should be shared on a very special day like Memoria Day and how one can learn more about his extrodanary life. After all, he was involved and was the last generation of soldiers that founded The American Legion. More Americans should know of him. And the American Legion especially should be in front with praise for the last American hero of WW1.

That's my opinion

Hi Nancy,

Venti took a lot of credit for almost everything positive that went on in Monterey Park during his term. (Anything he could to make himself look good) Too bad he didn't take the blame for all the negativity that he caused in the City as well ; the people who encountered him, staff and residents . He ran off a lot of good people with his belligerent approach to everything he did not agree with. (No ne knows that better than you)

The city lost a lot of good people because of thim. Who do you thank for Venti not seeking another term?

His timing couldn't have better with all the ousted leaders in the Middle East, Venti should take his place among them. What do you think?

I'm glad Linda Wilson is actively writting articles in your publicaton. I remember last year you had an article about this time detailing, for the most part, with what women went through to get their right to vote. Many of them litterally went through hell.

I never knew those women who were active in that movement were so badly treated. It's just like everything else in life..........some people will suffer torment to fight, not just for themselves, but for all to earn a right for the freedom to do something as important as this. And after they win the battle...the right, no matter what it is. It's taken for granted and never hold honor for what these women had to go through....the same thing happened to our war veterans who went to fight for their country.

When I became of age to vote, I have never missed an opportunity to vote. I really feel it's a previlegeto exercise your right to vote. And I felt that way long before I knew of the Women’s Suffrage. No wonder they named it suffrage,

Thank Linda for me for keeping the pioneering spirit of women alive, and you too, Nancy . Good article.
