4th of July 2020
Most 4th of July Celebrations were cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus across the United States of America.
In Monterey Park and across the San Gabriel Valley our night skies were filled with colorful fireworks displays with their loud noises to celebrate our 244th Birthday.
Our United States of American was born on July 4, 1776, when the 13 colonies claimed their independence from England, an event, which eventually led to the formation of the United States.
We celebrate American Independence Day on the Fourth of July every year. We think of July 4, 1776, as a day that represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation.
On September 14, 1814, Francis Scott Key pens a poem which is later set to music and in 1931 becomes America’s national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The poem, originally titled “The Defence of Fort McHenry,” was written after Key witnessed the Maryland fort being bombarded by the British during the War of 1812.
“The Star-Spangled Banner”
Oh, say can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, now conceals, now discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner! O long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wiped out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner forever shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
I find it very interesting that some people who were born and raised in our United States of American express hate towards people of different races, different religious beliefs, different cultures and different political beliefs.
They claim we are a hateful and racist country but they still live in our Unites States of America.
Some of these people have publically stated they would move out of our country but they still live here.
Some of these radical people want to re-write our history to suit their current political beliefs. They are destroying our public monuments. They state that all of those early historical figures are racist.
I believe they are wrong because we cannot re-write our history. We should learn from our history and try not to make these same mistakes in our future.
If our United States of American is so evil why are thousands of people leaving their homelands to live in our country?
They are fleeing for their lives from dictators who are enslaving their people for the dictators’ political, financial and social beliefs.
Our United States of America may not be perfect. Our United States of America is the best and most free nation in the world.
If you do not believe me then just ask all of our new citizens that have pledged their allegiance to our United States of America.
May God continue to bless our United States of America!
