Letter to the Editor – November 11, 2010
Dear Editor:
Once again, a special “thank you” to principal Kathi Perini, teacher Josette Schwartz and the second graders as well as students from the Student Council of Emperor School in Temple City who faithfully make cards for the veterans on Veterans’ Day and Memorial Day. The cards were given out to the veterans at the City of Monrovia and San Gabriel Valley Allied Veterans’ Council Veterans’ Day program held at the new Veterans’ Memorial at Library Park in Monrovia on November 11th. The cards brought smiles from the veterans receiving them as they read the personal thoughts of the children, i.e., “Thank you for our Freedom” or “Thank you for your Service to my Country”. Cards were also shared with veterans at several American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts in the area, and some even went overseas through the American Legion Auxiliary. We should show appreciation to the staff not only at Emperor School, but also other schools in the area, for the great job they are doing teaching our future leaders and spreading the feeling of patriotism, love structure gonflable of country, and service to their communities and to America. National Education Week is in November 14th to 20th – what better time to thank the dedicated teachers, who spend so many hours every week with our children, dedicated to their profession.
