The Citizen’s Voice Proudly Endorses
By Nancy C Arcuri, Editor and Publisher
On December 16th I met five of the eight candidates for the 2020 Monterey Park City Council.
I have asked them to send me an introduction about themselves and what their goals are for Monterey Park.
I have published them in my Meet The Candidates Forum at the Chamber article in this issue.
I live in District 5 so I am not able to vote for our 2020 City Council.
I heard them speak at that forum and heard about their personal experiences as well as their plans for our Monterey Park.
I am endorsing Bob Gin in District 2. He has been serving on the Alhambra School Board for many years. I know he has experience serving on a governing board. I have voted him into office on the School Board. Bob Gin also serves on the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library Foundation. He helped raise over $200,000 for our library. Bob Gin has dedicated his life to educating the residents and helping them achieve their goals in life. Bob Gin is bringing his experiences to our hometown. He will always listen to the concerns of the residents and the city employees.
I am endorsing Allan Shatkin in District 3. He is a Career Educator and serves on Monterey Park Traffic Commission. He has also served on the Monterey Park Community Participation Commission. He is very active in our Monterey Park. Allan Shatkin served as a Senator on the Legislature of the US Virgin Islands. He has experience serving on a governing board. Allan Shatkin is bringing his experience to our city to help us to keep on track to be the safest place to live and best place to shop and dine.
I am endorsing Henry Lo for District 4. He has been serving on the Garvey School Board for many years. I know he has experience serving on a governing board. I have voted him into office on the School Board. Henry Lo has enacted many plans to improve the education of the children in his district. Education is very important to him. Henry Lo works for Assemblymember Ed Chau so he is aware of all of the new laws being approved in Sacramento. He is dedicated to Monterey Park. In fact he gave the interview to Money Magazine who rated us the Third Best Place to live in the USA and the First Best Place to live in California.
I am endorsing these candidates to serve on our 2020 City Council.
