Our Monterey Park City Council is still reviewing the many Redistricting Maps submitted by the residents.

They are reviewing the maps at the March 20th Council meeting.

Our consultant, Robert McIntire will advise our City Council, our City Attorney Mark Hensley and our City Manager Ron Bow on the best map that meets the federal and state guidelines for redistricting Monterey Park.

This map will effect the2020 City elections.

Councilmembers Peter Chan and Hans Liang are termed out in 2022 so they will serve at large until the March 2022 election.

If your district does not have candidates on the ballot for the 2020 election then I understand that you will not have any Council candidates to vote for since we can only vote for candidates in our districts.

We are no longer able to vote for our Councilmembers at large in this election.

Residents have voiced their concerns to our elected officials in Sacramento to have this law amended to allow all of us to continue to vote for the best people to represent us in our hometowns.

This is an expensive and time consuming process that will have to be repeated after the 2020 census that may change the population count in our cities.

It seems to me that our state and federal governments are trying to destroy our Constitutional and God give rights to vote for the best people for the jobs, our religious rights, our free speech rights and our right to protect our borders.

Some government officials want to remove God from our lives and our United States of America.

Our money says “In God we trust” which is part of our American heritage.

I love my God, my family, my friends and my United States of America.

I hope and pray that we are still living in “the land of the free and the home of the brave”.
