I addressed the Monterey Park City Council during the September 20th meeting
on Agenda Item 7-B.
A resolution declaring the city of Monterey Park is dedicated to preserving the rights of all persons within its jurisdiction.
This is a nice resolution declaring that the Federal government should honor President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
This Council and residents should demand President Donald Trump and Congress fix our broken immigration policies.
Our United States Constitution only allows Congress to create or change our immigrations laws and policies.
On June 15, 2012, by executive order, President Obama granted amnesty to immigrants living illegally in the United States.
His action has been declared as an unconstitutional act. President Obama had previously admitted he had no authority to end deportations of illegal aliens when he said, “The notion that somehow I can just change the laws unilaterally is just not true.” He tried to change our constitution with a swipe of his pen.
President Trump is now taking the first step toward restoring sanity to the rule of law as it applies to the Constitution and immigration.
You should address your concerns on the immigration issues with your elected officials in Washington, DC.
I realize that some voters are disappointed that their candidate did not win the 2016 Presidential Election with California’s 55 Electoral votes.
You must realize that disrespecting President Trump with your resistance movements that you are aiding and abetting our enemies that want to destroy our United States of America.
Yes, history seems to continually repeat itself. Don’t you remember the history of our Civil War that the Federal government can and did overrule states rights that included the right to buy and sell human beings in the South?
Our Constitution is the major law of our land.
I was born in Washington, DC and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland in a loving conservative home.
My parents taught my brothers, my sisters and me to obey the Golden Rule and follow the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
We were taught to be grateful for God’s blessings and share ourselves with our families and friends.
We were also taught to respect or love our fellow man like we want to be respected or loved.
So I am having a very hard time excepting the hatred shown towards people by the evil people who are trying to destroy our America.
Why do they want to live in a lawless society where a few people decide the fate of their fellow Americans?
I guess they did not learn anything from our American and World history.
Maybe they do not remember that freedom overcame the United Soviet Socialist Republic and set many European countries free to develop their own governments.
As our veterans always remind us that “Freedom is not free”. It is earned through blood, sweat and tears of our military members and their families.
Elected officials and voters who make their best decisions based on the information presented to them at the time also protect our freedoms.
We must continue to read and study issues to make our own decisions.
We must follow our own consciences and not take another person’s word lest we make a wrong decision.
God blesses our United States of America and has requested us to protect our freedoms and help our fellow humans when ever possible.
Please remember to thank our veterans and first responders every day and pray for the safety of all of us.
May God bless all of the victims and their families of the Las Vegas tragedy.
I am currently nursing a broken arm so I am not able to cover many local events.
