JOIN THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF MONTEREY PARK AS WE HONOR THE LIONS CLUB AND WHITE CANE DAYS ON OCTOBER 11, 2009

WHAT?            Since 1951, local Lions Club members have given away white cane lapel pins in exchange for a monetary donation while raising funds to support their work in sight conservation.

WHERE?            In the Richard Garvey Room in Garvey Ranch Park on Sunday.

WHEN?            October 11 between 2-5 p.m. Park address: 781 So. Orange Ave., Monterey Park

WHY?            Learn the story behind Whit Cane Days and hear from current and former Lions Club Presidents who will share their experiences with this program.

FEE?            No admission fee and no reservations required. Light refreshments will be served before the one-hour program begins.

EXHIBIT?            A special exhibit has been collected and is on display in the museum through the end of this year.

RAFFLE?            Six copies of local resident Norm Stevens’ two books detailing his military service during WWII will be given away.
