Assemblymember Chau Honors Outstanding Latinos during district ceremony
Assemblymember Ed Chau (D-Monterey Park) presented seven outstanding 49th Assembly District honorees with the 2014 Latino Heritage Month Award during a ceremony in the City of Rosemead on Friday, September 12, 2014. The awards presented were in recognition of distinguished service in the areas of education, entrepreneurship, community & public relations, and environmentalism & wellness in transportation.
The recipients of the awards were the Alhambra Latino Association (ALA), a non-profit organization comprised of educators and community members; Dr. Maribel Garcia, Superintendent of the El Monte City School District; Javier Hernández, Programs Director of Bike SGV; Jose Jacquez, Controller of Lawrence Equipment; Joanna Jimenez, Owner of Floral Expression & Gifts; Nancy Limon, Director, West Region, Public Affairs & Communications, for Coca-Cola North America; and, Richard Valenzuela, Owner of VZ Computer Technologies.
“I am proud to acknowledge and commend these seven outstanding Latinos whose dedication and commitment to their communities have improved the quality of life for so many people of the 49th Assembly District,” said Assemblymember Ed Chau. “These inspiring men and women are the role models for our future leaders.”
Assemblymember Chau serves as Chair of the Assembly Committee on Housing and Community Development, Chair of the Select Committee on Privacy, and is a member of the Assembly Committees on Banking and Finance; Judiciary, and Labor and Employment. He represents the 49th Assembly District, which includes the cities of Alhambra, Arcadia, El Monte, Monterey Park, Rosemead, San Gabriel, San Marino, Temple City, and portions of Montebello and South El Monte.
