Resident Escapes Unharmed
On September 6, 2009 at 9:01 p.m. the Monterey Park Police Department received a call of a vehicle crashing into a house at 577 Casuda Canyon Drive.
Officers discovered that a semi truck with two empty gravel trailers had plowed into the residence wherein the truck was at rest in the backyard. Fortunately, the sole resident was in the kitchen at the time of the collision and escaped unharmed.
The initial witness report indicated that the vehicle was being driven by someone as it had managed to swerve to avoid hitting the witness’ vehicle head on; however, no one was located inside the cab of the truck once it was removed from the wreckage. A check of the area for the driver proved negative.
The cause of the accident is unknown at this time and a hit and run investigation is on going. The California Highway Patrol will be called to assist with a vehicle inspection to determine if it was vehicle malfunction that caused the accident.
Any one with information about this investigation should contact Traffic Investigator Julian at (626) 307-1238.
