Council Proclamations on May 20
Monterey Park Mayor Anthony Wong, Mayor Pro Tem Hans Liang, Councilmembers Peter Chan and Mitch Ing with Judge Maggie Lam presented the 2014 Play Days Essay & Art Contest Winners: Amanda Ng and Arion Togelang, Emily Throng and Lilly Huang, Matthew Louie and Henry Mendez, Terry Valenzuela and Chris Leong with proclamations and checks.

Council recognized the staff from local schools for their participation and support of their students: Alpha Shen Preschool and Kindergarten; Bella Vista Elementary School; Brightwood Elementary School; Garvey Intermediate School; Hillcrest Elementary School; Macy Intermediate School; Mark Keppel High School; Monterey Highlands Elementary School; Monterey Vista Elementary School; New Avenue School Potrero Heights Elementary School; Repetto Elementary School; Shurr High School; St. Stephen Martyr Catholic School; St. Thomas Aquinos Catholic School and Ynez Elementary School.

Council recognized Boy Scout Master Jorge Banuelos and Scout Benjamin Chu from Troop 301 at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church for their successful Pancake Breakfast.
