Edison Trails Clean Up Day
Monterey Park Councilmember Teresa Real Sebastian was joined by City Manager Paul Talbot, Assistance City Manager Ron Bow, volunteers from the Chamber and Rotary, student volunteers from Macy, Schurr, Mark Keppel, Cal State LA, members of the Police and Fire Explorers, residents and members of the Recreation and Parks Department on May 3 to clean up and replant Edison Trails pocket park on Fulton Avenue.
The area was the site of trees removed by Southern California Edison so the staff with the assistance of the volunteers planted several new trees that include olive trees, crape myrtle trees, Carolina cherry trees, roses and other flowers. There is a new bench set in front of a tree that will be a wonderful shade tree in the future.
The work crew from the city removed heavy brush and will be improving the walking trail that begins at Garfield Avenue and continues to Fulton Avenue.
