Fr. Ellacuria 33rd Memorial Mass Set at SG Mission

Fr. Aloysius Ellacuria, CMF, 33rd Anniversary Memorial Mass was held on April 5,

at 10 a.m. at San Gabriel Mission’s Chapel of Annunciation, 425 S. Junipero Serra Dr. (at Mission Road), San Gabriel.

The memorial mass was led by mission Pastor Rev. Fr. Bruce Wellems, CMF, and sponsored by Missionaries of Fatima.  Fr. Aloysius’s former secretary, Rev. Fr. Charles Carpenter, Missionaries of Fatima, concelebrated the mass.

After mass there was a procession to Fr. Aloysius’ grave at the mission cemetery, and a reception followed in mission’s parish center.

San Gabriel Mission offers free self-parking on a first-come basis in the church lot at the intersection of Mission Road and Junipero Serra Drive.  Also, free parking is available on some streets by the mission.

San Gabriel Mission was founded on Sept. 8, 1771 as the fourth oldest of 21 missions in California.  The Roman Catholic parish has more than 30 active groups in a language of either English, Spanish, Italian, Vietnamese, Tagalog (Filipino) or Chinese.
