Peter Chan, President of the Monterey Park Library Foundation welcomed everyone to the Holiday Gala held at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library on December 7.  We need your money to run our library and purchase more books and DVDs. Please be generous and enjoy this event.

Dave Barron was the Master of Ceremonies. He welcomed the guests to this event and introduced special guests that included Assemblymember Ed Chau, Community College Boardmember Mike Eng, Councilmembers Peter Chan, Teresa Real Sebastian and Hans Liang, City Clerk Vince Chang, City Manager Paul Talbot, Library volunteer Nancy Ishino-Gilmore, firefighter Matt Hallock and Water Boardmember Thomas Wong.

Assembymember Ed Chau welcomed everyone to this event. His is honored to serve all of us in Sacramento. This holiday season we are very thankful for what we have and we help those in need. The Library Foundation has been doing a lot for the residents and the next generations. They provide hope and knowledge for the future. The library provides education for people to become U S citizens. He presented a proclamation to members of the Library Foundation.

The guests enjoyed a delicious buffet catered by Jennifer O’Grady.

Janet Yu announced the winners of the essay contest “What the Library Means to Me”.  They received 145 essays for this contest. She thanked the board members, staff, committee, judges and sponsors for their support. The program “Recycing for Reading” promoted recycling to the community. This program raised $4,100.

Santa Claus stopped in for a short visit. He took a minute to pose for a picture with Mayor Teresa Real Sebastian.

Alicia Martinez thanked all of the sponsors and donors for their generous support of the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library.

Dave Barron thanked all of the sponsors, guests and elected officials for their support.

Norma Arvizu announced in February the library would be opened seven days a week. She thanked everyone for participating in this special event.
