San Gabriel Mission Car Show

Gabrieleno Tongva Indian Matt Lovio picked out his favorite car, which is a 1957 Chevy Bel Air with fish tails at the First San Gabriel Mission Car Show on August 24.

One hundred cars were displayed with their owner’s pride at the show with included face painting, food booths, gift booths that sold jewelry, hats, CDs and model cars.

Father Bruce Wellems and Father Tony Diaz welcomed all the participants and visitors to this show with old memories. They asked God’s blessing on all and the cars.

Father Bruce Wellems and Father Tony Diaz blessed each car with holy water.

A 1956 Chevy Bel Air wagon painted orange and white produced many childhood memories of the old family station wagon.

A 1950 Chevy Deluxe dressed in yellow stood out from the crowd.

A 1947 Chevy Fleetmaster in classic brown was a glimmer of yesteryear.

Classic music from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s filled the air as a large crowd of spectators enjoyed the show.

It was a wonderful trip down memory lane.
