Margie Ramirez a local photographer was the August Artist of the Month.  Her nature photographs are located on the first floor of the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library main lobby.

A reception for Margie Ramirez was held on August 11 in the Friends Room of the Library.

Senior Librarian Cindy Costales welcomed everyone to this special event sponsored in partnership by the Friends of the Library and the Art and Culture Commission. This is one of the many adult programs sponsored by the library. We celebrate our local artists.

Margie Ramirez has been taking pictures for the last 22 years. She has taken pictures for the West Valley Journal newspaper and for city events.

Mrs. Costales introduced Monterey Park Councilmembers Peter Chan and Hans Liang, City Clerk Vince Chang and Community College Trustee Mike Eng to the guests.

Monterey Park Councilmembers Peter Chan and Hans Liang, City Clerk Vince Chang, Community College Trustee Mike Eng and former City Clerk Dave Barron honored Margie Ramirez.

Peter Chan said Margie Ramirez is a good photographer. She takes good pictures of him. He thanked her for doing a great job.

Hans Liang said it was an honor to be here to recognize Margie Ramirez. It is a great opportunity to see her artistic side. He congratulated her.

Vince Chang called it a special day. He has known her for many years. She has some beautiful photos on her face book. They are face book friends. He congratulated her. It is well deserved.

Mike Eng stated it is an honor to be here. As a former Councilmember and Assemblymember now a Community College Trustee he met Margie Ramirez through Dave Barron. Margie Ramirez and her family helped him sort through photos for a project. She is a great photographer and family member.  She is so respectful. Congratulations. We are honoring you. We need to have our local artists.

Dave Barron said he met Margie Ramirez six or seven years ago. She takes pictures for his newspaper. He taught her to be tough since taking photos is very competitive.

Margie Ramirez said it is a pleasure taking pictures. She thanked everyone for attending.

Natalie Mar said she is proud of her sister. She enjoys taking pictures. She started by taking pictures of the family.

Sarah Ramirez stated she is glad all of us could make this reception. She is proud of her mother who likes taking good pictures.

Mrs. Costales thanked everyone for coming to meet the artist of the month, Margie Ramirez.
