ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS

APPROVED BY CITY COUNCIL!

On May 20th the City Council approved the development of a new Economic Strategic Plan.

The City’s Economic Development staff is working with a team of consultants on the

production of an Economic/strategic/Branding study consisting of an in-depth look at the city’s current and future economic position in the region. The Study will entail extensive interviewing process of community leaders; telephone surveys of businesses and consumers, including the surrounding market areas for the purpose of laying the foundation for improving the economic position of the City. The Branding process will cultivate an image best portraying this flourishing community.

The recent economic crisis challenges city leaders to revisit the way they do business ensuring the best strategies are used and obtaining the highest benefit for the community’s residents and businesses. The Economic Development Strategic Plan is a comprehensive effort assessing the City of Monterey Park’s economic and Brand perspective. The intrinsic value of this project is the potential of understanding how to align the City within the region to meet the future and recommend ejective economic policies to fortify the city’s economic future and the quality of life for its residents.
