Transportation Summit to Bring Together Residents and Providers to

Discuss Services

The City of Monterey Park’s Environmental and Traffic Commissions will host their first

Transportation Summit to bring together residents and transportation providers to discuss the issues of the region.

City of Monterey Park Transportation Summit

Saturday, June 1, 2013

9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Langley Senior Center

400 W. Emerson Avenue

Monterey Park, CA 91754.

The summit will showcase important regional transportation projects affecting Monterey Park and the neighboring communities including the 710 Freeway Gap Completion, Eastside Transit Corridor Phase II (Goldline Extension to South El Monte/Whittier), and I-10 Express lanes. Representatives from L.A. County Metro will provide an overview of each project, discuss ongoing efforts, and answer questions.

Monterey Park Spirit Bus Discussion

The commissioners will also use this opportunity to solicit community feedback on local transportation issues in Monterey Park, most notably the city’s Spirit Bus service and proposed master plan of bike lanes.

City public works staff will be available to answer questions regarding potential new routes and service modifications. The Spirit Bus system has not changed for over a decade and improvements are necessary to maintain an effective and efficient transit service, and meet the needs of the community.

The city is expecting a positive turnout, as these pressing projects will have a significant impact on the residents and businesses of Monterey Park for years to come.
