RHS Girls Basketball Players Are MVL and CIF 3AAA Leaders!
Rosemead High School girls basketball senior guards Melody Gauthier and Sydney Hua finished the 2012-2013 season as stat leaders in Mission Valley League (MVL) and CIF Southern Section Div. 3AAA.
Gauthier completed the season with 23.0 points per game that ranks her first in MVL, first in CIF Southern Section 3AAA, ninth in all CIF Southern Section divisions, 26th in California and 131st nationally. Her 3-point baskets per game average of 3.1 ranked her first in MVL, first in CIF Southern Section 3AAA, third in CIF Southern Section all divisions, seventh in the state and 57th nationally. Gauthier’s 4.8 assists per game ranked her second in MVL, fifth in CIF Southern Section 3AAA and CIF Southern Section among all schools, and tied for 26th in California.
Hua with her 8.4 steals per game led the MVL and CIF Southern Section 3AAA, is second among all CIF Southern Section schools, fifth in the state and 14th nationally. Hua also averaged 16.7 points per game to rank second in MVL, tied for sixth in CIF Southern Section 3AAA and tied for 65th of all CIF Southern Section schools. Hua’s 4.9 assists average per game ranked her first in MVL, second in CIF Southern Section 3AAA, 23rd among all CIF Southern Section schools, and tied for 65th in the state.

Rosemead High School senior guard Melody Gauthier (35), shown in this photo recently making a three pointer from nearly out of bounds against Gabrielino High School, scored 15 points and had 10 rebounds, 10 assists, five steals, three blocked shots and zero turnovers as Rosemead easily defeated El Monte 56-36 in the Mission Valley League (MVL) Championship game on Feb. 8, at Rosemead. Gauthier now has a school career scoring record of 1,523 points. Rosemead improved to 10-0 in league for the Panthers record 46th straight MVL victory and improved its overall record to 19-6, and Rosemead won its fifth straight MVL title and 10th in past 12 years with Head Coach Jay Gauthier Sr. Photo by C.
