RHS Varsity Girls Basketball Wins Record 46th Straight MVL Game, Fifth Straight MVL Title and 10 Titles in Past 12 Years

Rosemead High School varsity girls’ basketball team defeated El Monte 56-36 on Feb. 8, at Rosemead’s gym for its record 46th straight Mission Valley League victory.

Rosemead won its fifth straight MVL Championship and 10th in the past 12 years with Jay Gauthier Sr. as head coach.

The CIF-SS 3AAA 10th-ranked host Panthers improved their MVL record to 10-0 and overall record to 19-6. Visiting El Monte finished second in the league with an 8-2 record and has an 15-11 overall record.

Rosemead will host Nogales High School in the CIF Southern Section 3AAA playoffs on Thursday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m. in the Panthers gym.

Rosemead’s junior varsity team defeated El Monte to finish second in league with an 8-2 record.

NBA 3-Point Range — Rosemead High School senior guard Melody Gauthier (35), shown in this photo recently making a three pointer from nearly out of bounds against Gabrielino High School, scored 15 points and had 10 rebounds, 10 assists, five steals, three blocked shots and zero turnovers as Rosemead easily defeated El Monte 56-36 in the Mission Valley League (MVL) Championship game on Feb. 8, at Rosemead.

Gauthier now has a school career scoring record of 1,523 points. Rosemead improved to 10-0 in league for the Panthers record 46th straight MVL victory and improved its overall record to 19-6, and Rosemead won its fifth straight MVL title and 10th in past 12 years with Head Coach Jay Gauthier Sr.  The 14th ranked El Monte Lions fell to 8-2 in league and 15-11 overall. The 12th-ranked Panthers will host Nogales in the first round of the CIF Southern Section 3AAA playoffs this Thursday, Feb. 14 at Rosemead High at 7 p.m.

Hua is Quick as a Cat

Gauthier and her senior teammates won every MVL game while in high school as

Rosemead has now won 46 straight. MVL games. Gauthier is eighth in scoring

among all CIF-SS divisions with 23.0 points per game.

Hua scored 14 points and had 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 8 steals, 1 blocked shot and consistently broke the press in Rosemead’s 56-36 win against El Monte for Rosemead’s

46th straight MVL win, fifth straight MVL title, and 10th title in past 12 years. Hua is currently second in all CIF-SS divisions with 8.4 steals per game.
