Residential Structure Fires
On Wednesday January 16, 2013 at 10:58 a.m., Monterey Park Fire units responded to a reported structure fire at 456 S. Alzado St.
First arriving units found a single family dwelling with an apparent attic fire in progress. An aggressive fire attack was conducted and the fire was brought under control within 30 minutes. In addition to Monterey Park Fire, units from Alhambra and Los Angeles County assisted with suppression efforts.
The home suffered approximately $100,000 dollars in damage to the structure and contents. There were no injuries to civilians or to firefighters. Initial cause is under investigation by members of the Monterey Park Arson Taskforce, however preliminary results showed the fire to be accidental in nature.
On February 6, 2013, at 3:31 p.m., the Monterey Park Fire Department responded to 412 Gladys Avenue in the City of Monterey Park for a residential structure fire.
Monterey Park Fire units with the assistance of Alhambra and Los Angeles County Fire Departments responded to the incident.
Upon arrival, Monterey Park Fire units encountered a single story, single family dwelling with heavy smoke issuing from rear of the structure. Initial reports to the first arriving fire units were that people were trapped inside the structure. An aggressive fire attack was established with four engine companies, and two ladder trucks that enabled the fire to be brought under control in less than 15 minutes.
During fire ground operations it was determined that no residents were home at the time of the fire. There were no civilians or firefighters injured during fire ground operations. The estimated cost of damage is $90,000 to the structure and $15,000 in content damage.
The Monterey Park Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit is currently investigating the fire to determine the cause.
