Lau, who is originally from Hong Kong, always wanted to be an actress, but her parents
wanted her to have a more stable occupation so she became a banker – working for a number of years for Bank of the West in mortgage lending. Taking an early retirement, Lau decided to pursue her dream of being an actress which she has done for the past 22 years. She has appeared in movies (“Legally Blond,” “American Fusion” and “Petals in the Wind”), TV shows (e.g.”ER,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Whitney” and “Breaking In”) and commercials. For more than seven years she has written, produced and directed plays in Monterey Park. Her first play was based on a story by C.Y. Lee. She went on to produce, direct and star in “12 Angry Women,” “Servant of Two Masters” and others. Lau is a fervent believer that the arts are vital to the quality of life in any community.
