Monterey Park’s “You’ve Got Talent” Contest to Feature Up-and-Coming Local Entertainers

Monterey Park’s third annual “You’ve Got Talent” contest is looking to spotlight budding San Gabriel Valley talent for the August 25 show. Singers, dancers, dance

crews, musicians, comedians, magicians, martial artists and look- and act- alikes from all over the valley will compete to claim the “You’ve Got Talent” title.

Scheduled for Saturday, August 25 at 7 pm at Barnes Park, Monterey Park’s “You’ve Got Talent” also promises to be a fun, family oriented event for the end of summer. And it’s easy on the pocketbook too, because admission to the Barnes Park Amphitheater is free.

In addition to a first place grand prize of $500, performers will be competing for a $250 second prize and a $100 third prize. Each performer will have a time limit of three minutes and will be scored by a panel of local judges with live performance experience.

Deadline for entry to this year’s “You’ve Got Talent” is 5 pm, August 16, 2012. Registration fees are $10 for single acts and $25 for groups. Entry forms can be obtained from the Monterey Park city hall recreation department. Sorry but bands are not eligible to compete.

For more information or registration forms please contact the recreation department at 320 W. Newmark Ave., Monterey Park, CA 91754, call 626-307-1388 or visit the city website at www.ci.monterey-park.ca.us.

Barnes Park is located at 350 S. McPherrin Avenue with the amphitheater positioned at the corner of Harding and Ramona Avenues.

Monterey Park’s “You’ve Got Talent” contest is presented by the Art and Culture Commission. This commission seeks out, publicizes, and supports a wide variety of cultural activities in painting, music, dance and theater. Their primary aim is to expand the cultural opportunities for all residents. In addition to hosting special events and exhibits throughout the year, the commission hosts the annual Artisans’ Faire

to promote local artists and crafters within the area and organizes a trip to an evening concert featuring the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
