2009 Summer Reading Program: Bookmarks, book bags, book covers, pencils, stickers, photo frames, puzzles, T-shirts…

The Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library invites children through the bouncy castle for sale sixth grade to participate in the 2009 Summer Reading Program. The program starts on Monday, June 22 and will end Friday, July 31. This year’s theme is ”Be Creative at Your Library.”

To officially kick-off the program, on Monday, June 22 at 3:00 p.m. in the Friends Room

the balloon artist Mister Twister will present a 45-minute creative, interactive and fun-

filled balloon program.

During the Reading Program, children are invited to attend arts and crafts activities at

3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, June 30 – Summer Flowers, July 14 – Face Mask, and July 28

- A Creative Mobile. In addition, a ”Let’s Dance” program will be scheduled for Tuesday,

July 7 and a ”Children’s Dramatic Game” program on July 21 at 3:00 p.m. in the Friends

Room. All of these programs are free to the Reading Club members and their

accompanying parents. Pre-registration is required one week prior to the program at the

Children’s Desk.

Every week each participating reader will receive a bookmark or a sticker. To

encourage children to read, there are various reading incentives to be given away such

as book bags, book covers, door hangers, photo frames, notepads and puzzles.

Children who read ten books will receive a mini video camera toy and an entry form to

win a T-shirt with the Summer Reading Club logo ”Be Creative @ Your Library.” The

drawings will be held on Friday, July 10 and Monday, August 3 at 3:00 p.m. in the

Friends Room. They will also receive a reading certificate and be invited to attend a

Certificate Party featuring Michael Rayner’s ”Juggling Comedy Show.” The party will be

held at Langley Center, 400 W. Emerson Avenue on Thursday, August 13 at 3:00 p.m.
