Farmers’ Market

Hundreds of local residents attended the Monterey Park Farmers’ Market held in the parking lot of Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library located at 318 South Ramona Avenue.  The weekly event is held from 4 to 8 PM.  Parking is provided in the employees’ parking lots, at City Hall and on the streets.

The booths featured beautiful fresh fruits and vegetables grown locally as well as honey, bakery goods and ready to eat food.

Residents enjoyed Euro-Mexican food cooked on the location by Corn Maiden Foods, Inc., Japanese delights, assorted fruit drinks, soft drinks, popcorn, fruit filled crepes and Middle Eastern hummus with pita chips.  The event featured a covered dinning area.

The West San Gabriel Valley Boys & Girls Club, LA Fitness and the Chamber of Commerce had information booths.

Alhambra Unified School District booth provided healthy eating tips and recipes.   This booth featuring a special food will be at the site monthly.

Jon Kwong provided entertainment. He sang some “Golden Oldies” to the delight of the crowd as well classics from the 80’s, 90’s and current songs.   For more information on his “gigs” please call him at 626-261-2877.

Face painting for children was available on the first day of the market.

The Farmers’ Market was a great success judging by the large crowds.
