Monterey Park City Council Member Betty Tom Chu delivered a written and verbal resignation statement to the members of the Council and the public at the beginning of the June 11, 2012 Special City Council budget meeting…

I am herewith submitting my resignation as a Council Member of the City of Monterey Park, effective immediately.

Council Member Chu was elected to a first term spanning 2003-07 and, after a period away from the council, was again elected to a 2009-13 term. A biography is available on the City website.

As of this time, the Monterey Park City Council intends to consider the council vacancy at the June 20, 2012 regular council meeting.
