May 17th to 20th is Monterey Park’s annual Birthday Celebration/Play Days Carnival. This four-day event has something for every age. Experience a large roller coaster and twelve other exciting carnival rides; enjoy cool live entertainment; treat your taste buds with delicious food items; watch Monterey Park’s Play Days “Idol” contest on Thursday evening at 7:00 pm (Stage by the Parking Lot in Barnes Park); and join in our annual Play Days Parade (All students are invited to participate.)

Carnival hours of operation:

Thursday: 5:00pm – 10:00pm

Friday: 5:00pm – Midnight

Saturday: Noon – Midnight (note Parade starts at 11:00 am)

Sunday: 1:00pm – 10:00pm

Bring the family to the Annual Play Days Parade on Saturday, May 19th on Garvey Avenue at 11:00 am. The infamous Fung Brothers are this year’s 2012 Grand Marshals. We have magnificent marching bands, dazzling dance teams, enthusiastic local service groups, and much more.

On a budget, no problem – 3 great ways to save at Play Days Carnival:

1. Buy pre-sale tickets between May 2nd and May 17th at City Hall at the Recreation and Community Services Counter. 24 coupons for only $12.00- a 40% savings!

2. Come on Thursday, May 17th (5:00 pm – 10:00 pm) – all rides are only $1.00 each for the entire night!

3. Buy a wristband on Sunday May 20th for $12.00 (with the coupon in Cascades

Newspaper) and ride all you want between 1:00p.m. and 5:00p.m.
