MONTEREY PARK FIRE DEPARTMENT

On May 6, 2012, at 01:11 Hrs, the Monterey Park Fire Department responded to 633 W. Riggin St., in the City of Monterey Park for a residential structure fire.

Monterey Park Fire units with the assistance of Alhambra Fire Department responded to the incident.

Upon arrival Monterey Park Fire units encountered a two-story, multi family dwelling unit with heavy smoke issuing from the front apartment. An aggressive fire attack was established with three engine companies, and two ladder trucks that enabled the fire to be brought under control in less than 10 minutes.

During fire ground operations one occupant of the structure was transported to Monterey Park Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There were no firefighters injured during firefighting operations. The estimated cost of damage is $30,000 to the structure and $5,000 in content damage.

The Monterey Park Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit is currently investigating the fire to determine the cause.
