LOCAL AUTHOR MAKES GOOD WORDS!

local

Local author Gay Toltl Kinman was one of sixty-plus authors who took part in the bi-annual Authors Festival in the Alhambra School District. She taught fifth through eighth grade students (9 classes!) at Baldwin School about how to murder someone–or rather, how to write a mystery.

Kinman’s short story, “Hidden Past,” was just published in “Somewhere in Crime” anthology, edited by Sue McGinty and Margaret Searles from Revenge Publishing.  The story is set in Los Olivos, California, in 1882, a mystery with a western flavor about two old friends, one of whom is now being hunted by someone because of a past deed. Signing for the book will be at the Morro Bay Public Library on March 23, and at the Coalesce Bookstore in Morro Bay on May 6.

Kinman’s new children’s book (fiction) is on Kindle and Amazon–”Gilly’s Divorce or Don’t Make the Mistakes I Did; and Manual and Advice on Coping With Your Divorce.” It’s the story of Gillian, 11, trying to cope with her parents’ divorce–some days she does, and some days she doesn’t. www.kindle.com $2.99, www.amazon.com $9.99.

“Gilly’s Manual and Advice on Coping With Your Divorce” which is a paper Gilly had to write because she had missed so much school, is non-fiction, and available separately on Kindle Shorts for 99 cents.

Also just published on Kindle and Amazon is her children’s mystery / adventure “The Adventures of Lauren Macphearson” which includes four stories featuring Lauren, 9 1/2 who has elective mutism. Each of the stories is on Kindle Shorts (99 cents), and the trade paperback from Mysterious Women is available on Amazon ($9.99).

These two children’s books are also available on Smashwords www.smashwords.com ($9.99)

And for grown-ups is “Upclose and Personal,” a mystery novel featuring her series character, Jo Peters, a burned-out LACoDA, who is now working part-time as a City Attorney, and has taken a P.I. job for a friend who owns a private jet-leasing company and who thinks someone is trying to kill her. The book from Mysterious Women is available on Kindle ($4) and on Amazon trade paperback ($9.95).

“London Spy” a short story featuring a CIA agent, Tony Reynolds, another series character, is now on Kindle Shorts (99 cents) and is a prequel to her mystery novel “Death in Covent Garden,” also available on Kindle and Amazon trade paperback.
