Call for Applications – Fire Ad Hoc Committee

The City of Monterey Park is seeking applicants to participate as a member of a Fire Ad Hoc Committee for approximately three months. Interested individuals may obtain an application from the City Clerk’s Office or visit the City website at ci.monterey-park.ca.us. The deadline for submittals is March 16, 2012 by 12 Noon.

The purpose of this Committee is to review and evaluate the proposal for fire protection, paramedic, and other incidental services by the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the independent analysis currently underway by ESCI on the County’s proposal. The Committee is to review both of these documents, develop a report for the City Council making certain findings relative to the review and analysis on existing service, costs, and savings no later than June 30, 2011.

The Committee make-up shall be five members, each appointed by a Council Member. The City Manager shall serve as ex officio member and the Fire Chief shall serve as staff liaison. Interested individuals must meet the following criteria:

• Minimum age – 18 years old;

• Applicant’s primary residence is in Monterey Park for the past three consecutive years and must remain so during membership on the Committee;

• The applicant, and his or her spouse, cannot be employed or previously employed by the Los Angeles County Fire Department or the Monterey Park Fire Department

Other conditions:

• The Council Member making an appointment cannot appoint his or her current commission appointee presently serving on a commission, committee, or board.

• Each applicant shall attest to being neutral, impartial, and objective;

• Absence of three consecutive meetings, unless excused by the Committee Chairperson, shall deem the member’s position vacant and the appointing Council Member may appoint a replacement.
