Local student athletes run great at state championships
Local student athletes from Rosemead, San Gabriel and Temple City and other nearby cities running for Pasadena City College women’s cross country team ran great at California Community College Athletic Association Cross Country Championships last Saturday in Fresno, earning 10th place out of more than 20 teams, which is the best team finish for a PCC women’s team at the state championships in 15 years!
You can visit www.pasadena.edu/departments/newsevents.cfm? dept=cross to see a team picture and information about their major accomplishments as a team as documented by their great sports information staff.
Thought you would like to know when young people in our communities work hard at college classes and practice for months and earn the success they have achieved as a team.
Hopefully the newspapers will pickup the story and team photo from the PCC web site and inform their audiences about this very difficult sport, which is even tougher when you consider the very fast inflatable park for sale times in Southern California, which was evident by the university coaches talking to the sophomore runners of teams after the races. Each of these PCC sophomore runners are being recruited by four-year colleges!
Thank you to those people who have encouraged these student athletes in a sport that most people don’t hear about. Your support and kindness has meant a lot to these runners and their coaches who together after the race huddled and thanked each other for their effort and loyalty to the team (how many of us like getting up at 6 a.m. to run 10 miles for practice), thanked their supporters and a great, safe experience on this journey.
Thanks for all your support! Track practice starts soon!

P.S. Congratulations to another team from the valley, Mt. San Antonio College, as they ran great and earned a third place team trophy!
