Monterey Park Mayor David Lau with his wife, Cici Lau produced a Special Concert for the residents and guests at Barnes Park Amphitheatre on September 18 to celebrate his third term as mayor.

Cici Lau welcomed everyone to this celebration for her husband David T. Lau.

David Lau welcomed all and thanked them for coming to this special event. He thanked all of his volunteers and the many entertainers.  He thanked Cici for putting this event together. He stated his plans for the city that included a balanced budget, a safe city, the new projects that will create more jobs and tax revenue, his focus on education and cleaning up downtown. He pledged that we will have a great city. Monterey Park is one of the best cities in the nation to live, work and shop in. He will continue to support the employees. We will work together for the city of Monterey Park.

Assemblymember Mike Eng presented David and Cici Lau with proclamations from himself and his wife, Congressmember Judy Chu, who was not able to attend the event. He read a letter from her praising David Lau for his dedication to the city. Mr. Eng praised David Lau as an outstanding elected official who is a three-time mayor of the city. Mr. Lau also served three terms on the Garvey School Board.  Mr. Eng praised Cici Lau for being a singer and actress in her own right. Monterey Park is an All American City where everyone is welcomed.

Mike Eng sang “God Bless America” to the delight of the audience.

Garvey School Boardmember Henry Lo congratulated David Lau on his mayor ship.

San Marino Mayor Allan Yung congratulated David Lau for being a three-time mayor and presented him with a proclamation. Cici Lau is behind him. He is happy to work with him.

Montebello School Boardmember Ed Chau congratulated Mayor David Lau. He has been working together with Mayor Lau on education in the city. Mr. Chau is a candidate for the 49th Assembly District.

Chester Chau from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce congratulated David Lau.

Senior State Senator Song Park congratulated David Lau and presented him with a proclamation from the Sister Cities Association.

BIDAC Chairman Stephen Lam congratulated David Lau. We are working together to improve the downtown district.

Chamber President Vince Chang congratulated David Lau. We are working on bring in new businesses into Monterey Park.

David Lau sang “God Bless America”, “Always on My Mind” and “Only Fools Rush In” to the residents.  Cici Lau sang “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” and dedicated “Power of Love” and “I Will Follow Him” to her husband, David Lau.

Entertainment included several Chinese Folk Dances including the famous Fan Dance.

Miss Taiwan World Cindy Chan presented Mayor David Lau with a scroll.

John Wong, Mayor David Lau, Councilmember Betty Tom Chu and Dr. Sophie Wong greeted the guests. They thanked Mayor Lau for supporting their request on redistricting the election districts. They congratulated him and asked him to support the business prosperity of Monterey Park.

Mr. Lau thanked them for acknowledging his vote on the issue. He will continue to vote for the issues that are best for the city of Monterey Park. He will continue to do what is best. He is looking forward to uniting the city. We are a most progressive city. He will serve the whole community. Let’s work together.

The celebration lasted into the night as fourteen singers filled the air with famous songs sung in both in English and Chinese.

Thank you Mayor David Lau and Cici Lau for hosting this musical event that blended the multicultural of Monterey Park.
