BARRICADED MAN HOLDS WOMAN AND CHILD HOSTAGE

On Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 9:30 P.M. the Monterey Park Police Department received a call from a local resident reporting that she was the victim of an assault by knife. The victim reported that the suspect was her husband and that he assaulted her with a knife causing a stab wound to her left leg area and contusions to her forehead. The injuries are considered non-life threatening.

The victim stated that she was arguing with her husband when he went into toboggan gonflable the kitchen and retrieved two large knives. Upon seeing him with the two knives, the female victim and her 3-year-old son locked themselves in the bathroom and she was able to call the Monterey Park Police Department.

Officers arrived and were able to remove the 3 year old from the residence through a bathroom window. The Monterey Park Police Department Special Response Team responded and was able to rescue the female. The suspect, Xiong Chao age 49 years old was subsequently taken into custody and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
