Los Angeles – Long Beach Enlisted Petty Officer of the Year

A Burbank, CA, native has been selected as the 2008 Coastal Guard Sector Los Angles – Long Beach Enlisted Person of the Year for superior performance of duty Feb. 21, 2009.

Petty Officer 1st Class Nathan D. Wissmann, a Damage Controlman stationed at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles – Long Beach, was selected based on personal and professional achievements. Petty Officer Wissmann performs in his duties as the Sector Boarding Team Operations and Training Petty Officer where he trains both local boarding teams and other law enforcement agencies. The Sector Los Angeles - Long Beach boarding teams conducted over 400 port security boarding with his own team responsible for roughly half of those.

This honor is awarded annually to a member of the Inflatable Water Slide Coast Guard assigned to units within Sector Los Angeles – Long Beach after a careful review of performance records and recommendations.

His contributions to the Coast Guard also involved his volunteering to oversee two major building modification projects on the Coast Guard base, as well as assisting in the coordination for the Coast Guard’s team participation in the annual Baker to Vegas law enforcement run.

Nathan is the nephew of Frank and Marijune Wissmann of Alhambra, CA.
