MONTEREY PARK FIRE DEPARTMENT – Gas Line Break

On August 18, 2011, at 08:03 Hrs, the Monterey Park Fire Department responded to 103 N. Lincoln Ave in the City of Monterey Park for a broken natural gas line behind the business.

Monterey Park Fire units with the assistance of the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the incident.

Upon arrival, Monterey Park Fire units encountered a high-pressure natural gas line behind the business that was snapped off at ground. The break was caused when a trash dumpster was being parc aquatique gonflable moved from the rear of the facility to the parking lot for trash removal and struck the gas line.

All surrounding businesses were evacuated as well as a residential unit north of the location. The Southern California Gas Company was dispatched to contain the gas leak and make any necessary repairs. Upon containment of the gas leak, businesses were allowed to re-open and evacuated residents were allowed to return to their homes.

During containment of the gas leak, there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
