American Legion Post 397 Elects New Officers
The American Legion Post 397 elected new officers last month.Gabriel Suarez became the youngest Commander to serve in District 18.Ernest Leyva and Ramon Villalobos are 1st and 2nd Vice Commanders, PostAdjutant, Alonso Fuentes, Finance Officer, Louis Morales, Chaplain,Thomas McCrady, Sergeant -At-Arms, Ray Molina, 2nd Sergeant-At-Arms,Rudy Alviso, and Historian, Herb Aguirre. Congratulations to the above mentioned.
The Auxiliary of the American Legion continues to offer activities to veterans, their families and to the community at large. We welcome you toFriday Night Dinners, from 6 to 8 p.m. August 12th we will be parque hinchable servingMexican food, August 26th will be meatloaf, September 9th will be meatloaf subs and September 23rd will be Pizza and chicken wings. Dinners are $6.50for veterans and members of the American Legion Post 397 and $7.50 for non members. Karaoke Fun Fridays continue from 5 to 11 p.m.
Free Movie Nights will be August 14th. Post BBQs will be August18th and September 21st from 3 to 6 p.m. Join us for a late lunch in our patio area. The monthly American Legion Post 397 meeting will be August 17th at6 p.m. and the Auxiliary Monthly Meetings will be August 10th andSeptember 14th, at 5:30. We need Jr. Auxiliary members, below the age of18, to join us and are looking for Sons of the American Legion, any age.Coming soon: Car Show October 1, 2011 and Harvest Dance, October 16th.
The Homeless Veterans Pier Program of Long Beach, the only drop incenter for homeless veterans on the West Coast needs our help. Please, they need packaged white t-shirts and packaged white socks. You can drop these off at American Legion Post 397 and they will be forwarded to needy veterans. Thanks.
