Boys State Dinner Guests Spark Boys State Delegates 2011

Attending the orientation dinner at West Covina Post 790, were 51 Boys State delegates to the 2011 California Golden Boys State in Sacramento and their parents. Giving exciting comments on their experiences at Boys State in earlier years, and the impact that this outstanding program of The American Legion provides the future leaders of our country, were guest speakers Mayor Andre Quintero of El Monte, Mayor Steven Ly of Rosemead, and Trustee Adam Caranza from the Mountain View School District.
Delegates were encouraged to go to California Golden Boys State with aufblasbares zelt an open mind and a determination to get involved, participate in all that is offered, and to come home with enthusiasm to make the most of what they have learned and determination to give back to their communities as knowledgeable and informed citizens.
These students will spend one week with 950 top students from high schools throughout the State of California, and will be divided into two political parties (Federalist and Whig) so that they may see how political parties function under our form of government. The delegates develop their own party platform and make their own controversial issues. All of their Governmental activities, whether city, county or state, are carried on according to the California State Constitution and the existing laws of the State of California.
