Defeats El Monte, Now 2-0

El Monte – Rosemead High School Panthers boy’s and girl’s varsity track and field teams defeated host El Monte on April 2 in Mission Valley League action.

Rosemead boys won 108-28 as double winners for the Panthers were Brian Luc in the shot put (48’0”) and discus (113’0”), Raul Lira in the 200 meters (23.32) and 400 (53.16), and Danny Lac in the 110 high hurdles (19.00) and 300 intermediate hurdles (45.18).

Other Rosemead winners were Antonio Lam in the 100 (11.75), Sahan Ranaweera in the 800 (2:07.41), Greg Parham in the long jump (18’1/4”), Randy Tran in the triple jump (34’1 1/2”), Simon Liang in the high jump (5’8”), and the Panthers 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams.

El Monte’s Brandon Martinez won two bouncy castle for sale events, the 1600 (4:50.4) and 3200 (11:07).

Rosemead is now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in league, El Monte is 0-2 in league.

Rosemead varsity girls easily won 87-49 as Rosemead’s Brittnie Munoz won three events, the 800 (2:30.53), 1600 (5:48.35) and 3200 (12:39) and Freesia Quezada won two events, the 100 high hurdles (19.25) and 300 intermediate hurdles (54.84).

Other Rosemead winners were Annalyssia VanBeers in the 200 (28.47), Jeanne Tran in the long jump (13’9”), Christine Truong in the triple jump (28’7 1/4”), and the Panthers 4×100 relay team.

El Monte’s varsity double winner was Danielle Lopez in the shot put (31’10”) and discus (76’0”). Other El Monte winners were Connie To in the 100 (14.56), Laura Naranjo in the 400 (1:04.81), Carol Tsang in the high jump (4’6”) and its 4×400 relay team.

Rosemead girls are now 3-2 overall and 2-0 in league, El Monte is 0-2 in league.
