Monterey Park City Clerk Dave Barron administered the oath of office to the newly elected Councilmembers Mitch Ing, Teresa Real Sebastian and Anthony Wong on March 16.

Monterey Park Councilmembers Betty Tom Chu, David Lau, Frank Venti, Mitch Ing and Anthony Wong voted to approve the final election results from March 8.

Mr. Barron stated that Monterey Park had a 23% voter turnout, which is better than most cities in this election.  He certified the election results.

Mayor Chu presented outgoing Councilmember Frank Venti with a plaque of appreciation for his 12 years of service to the city of Monterey Park. She said he affected the lives of

many residents in the city.

Mr. Ing thanked his wife and children for their support. He thanked the voters for electing him back to the Council. He said people remembered him and supported him. He thanked his supporters for helping him win the election. We need to be sensitive to the needs of all the community. He congratulated Teresa Real Sebastian for wining a seat on the Council. He thanked Anthony Wong for winning his seat on the Council. He also thanked all of the candidates for running to make a difference. Please keep trying.

Ms. Real Sebastian thanked all the voters who voted on March 8. She thanked her supporters for their efforts. She thanked her husband and family for their support. She thanked the residents for their comments. The city belongs to all of us. We want to hear from all of you. Our residents are deeply rooted in Monterey Park. She vowed to keep the residents informed and help the city. She thanked all for their support. It is our Monterey Park. She is ready to serve you the public.

Mr. Wong congratulated Mitch Ing and Teresa Real Sebastian. He thanked all the residents in Monterey Park for having the confidence to reelect him. He thanked his father and his family for their bouncy castle for sale support. He thanked his friends for their support. He will work together with all for the betterment of Monterey Park. He pledged to do his very best for all of us. He works for all of the people of Monterey Park for a better future. We will work together without splitting the Council and the community. We must work together to protect the residents in Monterey Park.

Mr. Lau congratulated Anthony Wong, Mitch Ing and Teresa Real Sebastian. He thanked all of the candidates. He suggested that they keep trying in the future. We will work with the city manager and attorney to make Monterey Park a safe and progressive city to serve the residents. This is the best city to work, live and raise your family.

Mrs. Chu congratulated Mitch Ing, Teresa Real Sebastian and Anthony Wong. The City Council has to work together. She is not a clone on the Council. She brings her voice to the Council. All the Council has different voices.

Mr. Barron thanked his staff and volunteers for their handwork on the March 8 election.

  1. I found it interesting about Betty’s comment about being a clone on the Council. With Frank on the Council she seemed to be. Maybe now that she doesn’t have Frank to bounce off of she’ll sing a different song…..so long as it isn’t a long song. She has been known to go on and on and on.

    Gee, Nancy, What will you do now that you don’t have Frank Venti on the Council. Maybe now the Council can truly work for the good of the city.
