Monterey Park Earth Day Festival

The Monterey Park Environmental Commission will be hosting its Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 23, 2011 on the front lawn of City Hall, 320 West Newmark Avenue, Monterey Park, CA from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. Exhibitors will include Amigos De Los Rios, Athens Services, The Gas Company, Cal State LA, LA County Smart Gardening, San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District, Salvation Army, Pacific Asian Consortium in Employment (PACE), Fresh and Easy, LA County Energy Upgrade, and more!

Reusable grocery bags, showerheads, and other freebies will be bouncy castle for sale given away by exhibitors. LA County Smart Gardening will hold a workshop on smart gardening and composting at 9:30AM and PACE will hold a workshop on home energy savings at 10:30AM.

A Family Bike Ride will precede the event at 7:30AM. For more information and to register for the ride, please contact Amy Ho at amho@montereypark.ca.gov or (626) 307-1383. A police escort will lead the ride safely through the City’s streets and return to City Hall to enjoy the Festival. A bike valet will be available for free to secure bicycles after the ride and during the Festival. More advanced riders are invited to continue to ride beyond the family route through the scenic hills of Monterey Park.

Assemblyman Mike Eng and city officials will kick off the Festival at 9:00AM in front of City Hall. All are welcome to join in the festivities to learn more about how residents and businesses can save money, live greener and healthier.
