May American Legion Post 397 Auxiliary News
On May 15, the Auxiliary of the Richard L. Luy American Legion Post 397 joins a nationwide program to distribute poppies. The poppy has become a nationally known and recognized symbol of sacrifice and is worn by Americans to honor those who served and died for their country.
Each year, American Legion Auxiliary volunteers inflatable water slide distribute millions of red crepe paper poppies in exchange for financial contributions to assist disabled and hospitalized veterans. Donations received by Auxiliary volunteers for the poppies are used exclusively to assist and support veterans and their families. From May 15 to May 21, Auxiliary members will be distributing poppies in the community and ask for your donations as a way of supporting hospitalized and disabled veterans.
