THE CITY OF MONTEREY PARK ANNOUNCES THEIR ANNUAL TREE MEMORIAL AWARD
Nominations for the 2011 Tree Memorial Award are now being accepted by the Recreation and Parks Department. Nominations will be accepted through February. The Tree Memorial Award was created to recognize individuals who have made a significant positive impact on the community. This prestigious award is reserved for an individual who has demonstrated the highest level of community involvement, and can be awarded to a person living or deceased.
Nominations will be reviewed by a committee of Historical Heritage and Recreation and Park Commissioners The committee will make their recommendation to the City Council in April, and a ceremony honoring the individuals will take place in May.
Plaques will be installed under designated trees at as recognition of their accomplishments.
Groups or individuals who wish to nominate an individual must complete the application process. Applications are available at the Recreation and Parks Department at Monterey Park City Hall. The nominating group or individual is also responsible to pay a $500.00 fee, if the individual is accepted for an award.
