Monterey Park Woman’s Club Annual Fundraising Fashion Show & Luncheon
“Aloha Spirit” was the theme of the event that was held on May 4 at Quiet Cannon in Montebello.
Magnolia Boutique in Arcadia provided the clothing being modeled at this fashion show.
The 20 tables were decorated in the “Aloha Spirit”. 180 guests attended this very special event.
Sandy Hidalgo welcomed all the guests to the Monterey Park’s Woman’s Club. Please check out the gift baskets and use your raffle tickets to win your gifts. This fundraiser will help the club provide for the needs of our residents.
Elizabeth Yang introduced the Elected Officials to the guests. Mayor Thomas Wong, Mayor Pro Tem Vinh Ngo, Councilmember Henry Lo, Councilmember Yvonne Yiu, Councilmember Jose Sanchez, Alhambra Councilmember Adele Andrade-Stadler, Garvey School Boardmember Andy Yam, Monterey Park City Manager Inez Alvarez, Assistant City Manager Diana Garcia and City Librarian Kristin Olivarez, Interim Fire Chief Chris Thompson and Police Chief Scott Wiese.
Former Mayor Jose Sanchez led our Flag Salute.
Monterey Park City Manager Inez Alvarez gave the Inspiration. She wanted to be asked to model in the show. She is happy to here today. She thanked all of the people who value commitment. The commitment is all around us. Please keep each other together. As City Manager she must be flexible. She works with our community. It takes a village to run our city. She has to walk a fine line. Leaders must stay strong but be thoughtful but not timid.
Being a woman, we are held to different standards. She spoke about she motivated her College Volleyball Team. Each time they won a game she dyed her hair a different color. We have to be bold to establish ourselves. She thanked everyone for being here today. She needs to community to work together for our city. She thanks the city staff and the residents.
Katherine Torres, the Club President welcomed everyone to the Monterey Park’s Woman’s Club event. Our club is older that Monterey Park. We were established in 1915. She thanked all of those who honor and serve our community. The club is committed to Monterey Park and many local organizations. She thanked the club members for their support. They help our residents and our community. The “Aloha Spirit” is the coordination of mind and heart within each person. It brings each person to the self. Each person must think and emote good feelings to others. These are traits of character that express the charm, warmth and sincerity of Hawaii’s people.
She thanked all of the people for their participation in the raffles. You are making a difference in peoples’ lives.
Elizabeth Yang thanked all of the guests for their participation. She thanked the Monterey Park Fire Department and the Monterey Park Police Department for all of the services they provide to the residents.

Monterey Park Police Officer Ricky Artmanni and Monterey Park Firefighter Adam Fox and other members of the Fire Department walked the catwalk as the audience cheered our first responders.
The models took one last walk on the catwalk to the clapping of the audience.
