IMMEDIATE PAST NFBPWC PRESIDENT SANDY THOMPSON TO SPEAK ABOUT “BUSINESS ETIQUETTE” TO THE SIERRA MAR BPW DISTRICT BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN

Sandy Thompson, immediate Past President of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women (NFBPWC) will present NFBPWC’s Lifelong and Leadership Module on “Business Etiquette” at the Sierra Mar June Training and Dessert Auction on Saturday, June 15th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2009 S. Garfield Avenue, Monterey Park. The meeting is open to the public, but registration is required by contacting Linda Wilson at lindalwilson@juno.com or calling (626) 307-5650. The meeting is free, but for those interested in a box lunch the cost is $15.

Thompson is a native Californian. She graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Social Science and an M.A. in Special Education and has a life-time teaching credential. She worked for Amtrak for 35 years where she held a variety of positions –  

including being a Train Manager responsible for the on-board services of three trains, Manager of Union Station in Los Angeles and Director of Operations Management dealing with finances. Thompson has been a member of Burbank Business and Professional Women for more than 40 years, was President of the California Federation of Business and Professional Women (CFBPW) and is the immediate Past President of the NFBPWC. She is a NFBPWC Lifelong Leadership and Learning Facilitator and will be presenting the module on “Business Etiquette.” “Business Etiquette” shows participants how to represent themselves and their organizations well. The session will provide guidelines and protocols used in business settings that include verbal and written communication, running meetings and exhibiting a professional image.

The second speaker will be Linda Wilson, President of East Los Angeles-Montebello BPW and CFBPW Webmaster, who will demonstrate all the information and free training available on the CFBPW, NFBPWC and BPW-International websites.

After the box lunch there will be a dessert auction fundraiser for Sierra Mar District.

Sierra Mar BPW District is based in the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys and is part of the California Federation of Business and Professional Women (CFBPW).  The organization is a member of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs (NFBPWC) and BPW International. BPW has been advocating for women’s issues for more than 104 years.

The mission of the Sierra Mar District of the California Federation of Business and Women (CFBPW) is “to promote and support equity for working women in all phases of their lives and to promote personal empowerment and professional development.” Our objectives are “to advocate on state and national legislative issues of importance to women, to promote personal and professional development for women and to foster connections among women to promote BPW and its members.” Membership is open to both men and women who support this mission and these objectives.
