AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY

Department of California – District 18

American Legion Auxiliary District 18 President DeNyse Laugeson of El Monte will conduct the regular monthly meeting Monday, March 14h, 7:30 p.m., at Charter Cove Post 755, 20516 E. Arroyo Hwy., Covina.  March is Community Service Month so Community Service Chairman Mary Dugan of West Covina has requested all Units to join in the project by turning in old cell phones at the meeting with proceeds to be used to purchase calling cards for troops stationed overseas so they can stay connected with their families.

Veteran Affairs & Rehabilitation Chairman Margaret Quinones of La Puente is focusing on the Department President’s special project “the Brain Injury Trauma Center at the Palo Alto VA Medical Center.”  There are three additional trauma centers located in Minneapolis, IN, Richmond, VA and Tampa, Fl.  Many military service members gonfiabili are sustaining multiple severe injuries as a result of explosions and blasts, and these centers are working to meet the need of these heroes.

District Girls State Chairman, Judie Tabacchi of La Verne reports that Units have completed the process of interviewing at local schools for delegates to the 68th session of California Girls State to be held June 26th to July 2nd at McKenna College in Claremont   The Girls Staters that attended Girls State last year are busy planning a tea to be held May 22nd when the “alumni” will tell the new “delegates” what to expect when they get to this year’s session.

With membership having high priority, 1st Vice President Kathy Pipkin of Walnut wants all women to know that Auxiliary membership is open to wives, mothers, daughters, granddaughters and great granddaughters of Legionnaires as well as women veterans in their own right.  Eligible ladies interested in membership are urged to contact the Chairman at 909-468-4953 or any local Unit throughout the San Gabriel Valley.
