Measure BB
Measure BB
Monterey Park City Council voted to spend $10,000 to have this ballot measure added to the March 8, 2011 ballot plus the cost to have this ballot measure with all the arguments for and against translated into several foreign languages.
Measure BB:
“Shall the ordinance mandating the City Council to hüpfburg mit rutsche utilize a competitive bid process for awarding solid waste (trash) franchises within the city be adopted?”
The voters can vote yes or no.
This ballot measure if passed, does not cancel out our current trash contract with Athens Services.
The current trash contract with Athens Services has a clause that stipulates that the next waste hauler (trash) contract will be sent out to open bid.
Councilmembers Frank Venti, Betty Tom Chu and Mitch Ing spent $100,000 on two audits on our Athens’ contract. The auditors found no wrong doing by Athens during these audits.
Critics of this measure call it Frank Venti’s Last Hurrah since he failed to keep his campaign promises to bring in a restaurant row, brand name businesses and develop the Market Place.
$4million budget shortfall? I’m really glad to see the new development on Hellman and Atlantic but I can’t help to notice the declines and vacancies throughout the city.
I question if Monterey Park is another Bell City in the making. This one of the few cities with home values relatively unaffected by the great recession. I’m sure things could have been worse had Monterey Park’s real estate values drop like all the others.
I think everybody should be voted out of the city government. All citizens of Monterey Park should take action to make some changes. I will start by voting out all of the old names and stand behind candidates who dare to run on the disclosure of employee buyouts as well as other untold cronyism.
