Shooting Investigation for 300 Block of North Garfield Avenue

On August 7, 2023 at approximately 8:48 p.m., the Monterey Park Police Department responded to the 300 block of North Garfield Avenue for a possible shooting that had just occurred.

Monterey Park Police Department arrived on scene and located a bullet casing in a restaurant parking lot. According to witnesses, two male Asian subjects, who appeared to know each other, were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical fight.

During the fight, one subject pulled out a handgun and fired it at the other subject. Both subjects then fled the area in separate directions. It was unknown if either of the subjects was struck by the gunfire.

The Police Department does not believe there is a threat to the general public at this time.
