Yvonne Yiu Announced She Is Running for State Senate in the 25th District
Yvonne Yiu announced her candidacy on June 22nd at the NBC Restaurant in Monterey Park.
Over 400 guests attended the fundraising event.
Former Monterey Park Mayor Lily Lee Chen joined Yvonne Yiu at the celebration. Lily Lee Chen was the first Asian American to be elected to our City Council.

Brandon Tsay said he first met Yvonne a short time ago. She is the best of the best people in the city. He spoke about the January 21st tragedy. He said he is not a hero but he did protect himself from the gunman who shot up the Star Ballroom. He has started a fund for mental health services. Yvonne has worked to make our city a better place. He supports Yvonne Yiu for State Senator.
Rosemead Mayor Sean Dang said they support Yvonne Yiu for State Senator. She will help make progress in our cities.
Felicia Williams from South Pasadena supports Yvonne Yiu for State Senator. Felicia is running for State Senator in District 41.
Alhambra Councilmember Katherine Lee said she and Yvonne attended the same school. They are financial majors. She supports her 100%. She is the best leader.
Former Monterey Park Hans Liang said he supports Yvonne Yiu. They served together on the City Council. She is a smart person and makes good decisions. He supports Yvonne Yiu.

Yvonne said that two men in her life loved her. Dr. Yiu, her father and Dr. Albert Young.
Yvonne said the last time she saw her father was 15 years ago. He invested his time in her. She visited her father in Hong Kong. He spent his life protecting her. The Yiu and Young families are very close. She never thought about being a politician. She was challenged to be a better person. Several people helper her. She came to the USA at 15 years old. She worked so hard to finish her education. She completed her college courses in 3 years.
Yvonne spoke about the phone call about her father death. She worked so hard after college. She was laid off after 5 years and she lost everything. She lost her marriage and her business.
Yvonne said she financed a new business 2 years ago. She ran for the Monterey Park City Council and won her seat. She lost the election to be State Controller. She is stronger now and will now run for State Senator.
Yvonne said she is running to reduce gun violence and increase funding for mental health. She wants to grow California’s economy and create good paying jobs. She wants to create more economic opportunities for women, immigrants and young people. She wants to protect the environment and conserve natural resources.
