Monterey Park City Manager Ron Bow Retired on July 7th

Ron Bow was honored with a Resolution and a Glass Plaque by Monterey Park Mayor Jose Sanchez, Mayor Pro Tem Thomas Wong, Councilmember Vinh Ngo, Councilmember Yvonne Yiu, Councilmember Henry Lo, City Clerk Maychelle Yee and City Treasurer Amy Lee for his many years of service and dedication to Monterey Park.

Mike Eng, representing Congresswoman Judy Chu, honored Rob Bow for his many years of service to Monterey Park and the United States of America.

He presented a proclamation to Ron Bow with his children, Lauren and Justin.

Alex Avanesyan, representing State Senator Susan Rubio, presented Ron Bow with a proclamation for his many years of service to Monterey Park.

Jennifer Tang, representing Assemblyman Mike Fong, presented Ron Bow with a proclamation for his many years of service to Monterey Park.

Fred Lu, representing Supervisor Hilda Solis, presented Ron Bow a proclamation for his many years of service to Monterey Park.

San Gabriel Mayor Tong Ding, Councilmember Denise Menchaca and City Manager Mark Lazzaretto thanked Ron Bow for many years of service to Monterey Park with a proclamation. They all agreed that San Gabriel is a sister city to Monterey Park.

Alhambra School Boardmember Bob Gin thanked Ron Bow for his many years of service to Monterey Park and the Alhambra School District with a proclamation.

Garvey School Boardmember Andrew Yam and Supervisor Anita Chu thanked Ron Bow for his many years of service to Monterey Park and the Garvey School District with a proclamation. They also thanked him for helping them get Stop Signs at Monterey Vista School.

Alhambra Mayor Adele Andrade-Stadler thanked Ron Bow for his  many years of service to Monterey Park with a proclamation. She was born and raised in Monterey Park. She also considers Alhambra to be a sister city to Monterey Park.

Former Monterey Park Mayor Hans Liang thanked Ron Bow for his many years of service to Monterey Park. He also thanked the city staff. We are friends. He congratulated Ron Bow on his retirement.

John Tallichet, representing Specialty Restaurants, thanked Ron Bow for many years of service to Monterey Park. He said Ron kept telling him that Monterey Park needed more restaurants so he opened two of them near the golf course. One being the newly remodeled Luminarias Restaurant.

Jessie Chang thanked Ron Bow for his many years of service to Monterey Park.

Roy, who survived the shooting at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio. He asked that the city help them with financial support. Please take care of us.

Ron Bow thanked his staff for their support over these tough times. He thanked the county and their staff for their support.

Ron said he and Lillian have been married for 32 years. She retired in 2013 when he became City Manager. Lillian worked in Public Service for 37 years in Monterey Park.

Ron said Lillian has made sacrifices. They have lost family members in the last two years. Lillian is not here tonight because she has been ill.

Ron said that their children, Lauren and Justin have made sacrifices.

Ron said the City Council wanted to extend his contract for 3 more years. He decided to retire to take care of his family.

Ron Bow thanked Councilmember Hans Liang, Councilmember Peter Chan, Councilmember Stephen Lam, Councilmember Mitchell Ing and Councilmember Teresa Real Sebastian for hiring him as the City Manager. He thanked them for having faith in him.

Rob Bow thanked the community for their support. He thanked Fred Sornoso for his support. He said that he helped Fred with his illness. Fred loved his community. We both love our community.

Ron thanked the City Council for their hard work. The City Council will go forward.

Ron  thanked his former employers for helping him to exceed. He thanked Paul Talbot for his support. He thanked them all for taking a chance on him.

Ron Bow thanked all of the former city managers. The future in bright for our new city manager.

Ron said he likes to thank people in person. He thanked all of the Department Heads for their service to our community.

Ron Bow said Inez Alvarez will be our Acting City Manager. Each Department Head has a 2nd in command. He is excited for her. Karl Berger, our City Attorney protects our city from harm.  He can be relied on for his service. He thanked Karl Berger and Inez Alvarez for their support.

The City Manager reports to the City Council. It can be different. He has worked with them.

The City Manager and the City Attorney advise the City Council. It is their job to advise them. The City Manager helps guide the city. They help make the best decisions for the city. He loves Monterey Park.  And they love him back.

During Oral Communications: Vince Chang thanked Rom Bow for his service to the city. Troy Grant from the MPPOA, thanked Ron Bow for his service to the city. He welcomed Inez Alvarez as our Acting City Manager. Pastor Eric Chen thanked Ron Bow for his many years of service to Monterey Park. Arman Sebastian thanked Ron Bow for his many years of service to Monterey Park. Please enjoy your retirement. Teresa Real Sebastian thanked Ron Bow for taking on the job as City Manager. Monterey Park has a New Bike Patrol Police Chief Scott Wiese announced during the Council Meeting. Five of the seven officers were displaying their new bikes complete with flashing lights and sirens. He thanked Peter Chan and Vince Chang for their many efforts to raise funds for this new patrol.  The bike patrol will begin at the Market Place. The City Council joined in the picture for this very special event.
