HS Teams Made 514 Snack Bags for Homeless!
High school girls basketball teams making Snack Bags for Homeless on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Rosemead High School.
Starting at 10 a.m. in gym lobby, three schools in a show of sportsmanship will add drinks, fruit and snacks to grocery bags. The project should be done by 11 a.m.
Snack Bags for Homeless will then be distributed to homeless people later in South Gate, Watts and Los Angeles by LA Greater Holy Tabernacle Church.
Participating high school teams will be host Rosemead, San Bernardino, and South Hills.
Major sponsors are Bimbo Bakery and Northgate Markets, and other sponsors Dollar Tree, Grocery Outlet, PetSmart, and U-Haul.
Pizza Cart in Temple City, and Jim’s Famous Burgers and Rosemead Donuts and Sandwiches in Rosemead are providing lunch for the volunteers!
This would be a great opportunity to hopefully get coverage on page one or evening news of youth doing a good deed for homeless. Maybe even send it to national coverage? Any positive coverage of youth is always a winner for everyone.
We hope the coverage inspires other schools to create something similar or different to do a good community service by young athletes because they want to and not because they have to!
